PILOT SYNOPSIS

When a clown leaves her circus life “for good,” she’s betrayed first by her manager and then her husband.  But midlife breathes down her back, and her dream gives her a push, so she makes the leap with no safety net, and finds a crash pad in NY with a new young posse of artists.  Her old life keeps chasing her, but from it she knows how to scrap, hustle, and roll(erskate) with the punches, in hot pursuit of a new career on TV.

Creator - WRITEr  EXECUTIVE Producer

Amy Gordon has been on the road as a comedian for 10 out of 12 months a year for the past 20 years, and has written and performed her original shows in 46 countries, on 6 continents, and 5 languages.

She’s been featured in films such as Tyler Perry’s A Fall From Grace, and TV shows like Bull, and comedian Earthquake’s, International Boss.  Her act at the 2006 Just For Laughs festival has gone viral so many times it was one of the 30 most viewed videos ever. She’s been a semi-finalist on Got Talent shows in Germany, Italy, and France, and featured on comedy specials and documentaries in Austria, Germany, and the UK.

As a New Yorker, she's played all over, most recently as the first ever female solo comedian to lead the Big Apple Circus’ at Lincoln Center, in a role she created and wrote. She starred in the Olivier- and Off-Broadway Theatre League-Awarded shows, La Clique and La Soiree, was the Artistic Director for Daredevil Opera Company, the writer and comedy director for the hit Broadway show, Anti-Gravity’s Crash Test Dummies, as well as writing and devising much of the interactive James Bond concert/comedy show, Shaken Not Stirred.

She believes in the transformative and unifying power of comedy and will obviously go to any lengths to achieve it.  Currently she’s building a house upstate NY with her husband, roller skating in her attic, and working up her next big ideas.

Editor

Chris Roberti is an actor, writer, teacher and editor who lives in Brooklyn. See him on HBO’s High Maintenance and Comedy Central’s Broad City. He’s taught and performed at The People’s Improv Theater, Reckless Theater,  and UCB. A founding member of Bankrukt, in 2014, they set out to make a video every week for a year. They achieved their goal and kept going. Bankrukt makes comedy that is fast, fun and friendly but rooted in real emotion, and not afraid to get goofy. Commissioned by Nameless TV to create a webseries called New York, Am I Right?, it hit number 3 on Indiewire’s Best of 2016. And Bankrukt's latest work, Shiva (which blends comedy with grief) premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The team has a BRICtv-produced mockumentary in the works. He has a degree from Harvard.

5 notable influences: Joe Frank, Ani DiFranco, Nina Simone, Hearty White, Lydia Davis.
